Proteochem's 1-Ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)carbodiimide hydrochloride (EDC or EDAC; EDC-HCl or EDAC-HCl; EDCI) is an ultrapure, zero-length crosslinker that is used to conjugate carboxyl functional groups to primary amines as found in peptides and proteins. It is ideal for covalently binding proteins or peptides to carboxyl containing beads, resins, or other nanoparticals. EDC-HCl is water soluble, thus the reaction can take place at physiological conditions; although the best results take place at pH of 5.5 or less buffered in MES. Sulfo-NHS or NHS is used as a catalyst for EDC-HCl coupling and greatly increases the efficiency of the reaction.
